Sandals?

Can anyone anywhere explain to me how these can be called sandals????
This looks like something Madonna would have worn in the 80's. It's the mesh glove for your feet. This doesn't even look comfortable!!
Perhaps she's trying to catch fish while walking along the beach?

I think these would actually be fetching if done in brown leather cord and attached to a sole.

Otherwise, they look like stripper wear. For Alaska, because there's no other way to explain the use of worsted yarn.

Ummm....If done with a different yarn, I could see a bellydancer in them. That's about it.

wtf?
the word sandals denotes the inclusion of a sole...these thingies are sole-less, much like the designer.
couldn't resist the pun

for those who want to get a really funky tan line, I can imagine an entire line of beach wear to achieve hearts on your bum, poka dots on your boobs, diamonds on your arms...

or, maybe it is a safe alternative to henna tatooing! (failed attempt)

Maybe it's a way to get by the "no shirt, no shoes, no service" rule? You wear these... things... and fool the store manager into thinking you are actually wearing some sort of soled footwear.

of course, i've no idea WHY someone would want to do that...

I think they are meant to show off your feet, like an anklet attracts attention to your ankels. Of course, every one has such beauuutiuful perfect feet with bright red unchipped nail polish, I'm sure these will just be whipped out by the thousands.

Next month: Perky bunion covers!

I keep running across these things in various "hip" crocheting books and can't figure out why in the world someone would wear them.

Oh, its not that bad. I actually bought something like that. Its fun, but I don't really have anywhere to where it...

Xris, that's exactly why my mom and I wore them back in the early 70's! I remember them clearly, and when I saw some in JC Penny recently I had to call her and tell her because she crocheted ours herself! Too funny.
